program management
ESS provides requirements processing, budget processing, Secure Console Operations, engineering, program management, installations and maintenance support for unique Command and Control systems in the NMCC, the OSD Crisis Coordination Center, National Airborne Operations Center, and Air Force Operations Center to include secure telephone, fax, radio, video, and emergency action dissemination and surveillance systems. Monitors and controls numerous HEMP-protected Command and Control circuits. Provides the NMCC facility engineering and maintenance to include primary/back-up power, HVAC, all plumbing and electrical support, and HEMP facility engineering and maintenance. Provides and supports secure communications equipment in the quarters of senior DoD officials.
The ESS Program/Project Management team defines, acquires, and implements all customer requirements for new information technology (IT) capabilities for its customers. Its main functions include: strategic architecture planning, administrative support, and program management of downward directed programs. Primary responsibilities include documentation and monitoring project progress. The project administrators develop general and detailed documentation describing system specifications and operation instructions, engineering installation plans, and system security authorization agreements. ESS program and project managers monitor project performance through the creation and maintenance of planning and implementation source documents consisting of agreements and contracts.
continuity of operations
Disaster Recovery, Continuity Of Operations, And Contingency Planning
ESS provides support by performing and documenting Disaster Recovery procedures for networks and systems. This includes performing routine backups to Storage Array Networks (SANs) and recovering such networks utilizing the most recent data. In addition, ESS serves as the prime on incident response team that responds to any security alerts. The ESS team performs technical oversight for system recovery from any attack or system outage.
configuration management
ESS provides configuration management and license review for all organization Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products. This includes tracking and purchasing licenses to support a full-suite of products from a variety of vendors. ESS works with the AF’s central agency to ensure that all products are tracked and maintained properly through the AF’s tracking system.
