Engineering Systems Solutions of Frederick, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that provides and computer systems products and services, plans to expand rapidly over the next four years.
In so doing, the company will shed its ‘‘small business” label, Angelino Severino, the company’s executive vice president said Friday.
‘‘We do about $27million to $30 million per year and have a long-term commitment to Frederick,” Severino said. ‘‘We are planning to expand this building. We are planning to build an adjacent building.”
The goal is to expand revenues to $100 million by 2010 and increase the company’s workforce from its current 170 to upward of 870, Severino said.
He acknowledged that the targets are ambitious, but that ‘‘with the quality of people [available], we can do it.”
About 70 percent of ESS workers hold top-secret government clearances and the company’s biggest customer is the National Security Agency, Severino said.
Officials at the Frederick County Office of Economic Development praised the company’s track record.
‘‘ESS has been a wonderful company here in Frederick,” said Marie Keegin, executive director of the county agency. ‘‘We knew they were expanding, but we’re elated to hear that the expansion will be that significant.”
Keegin pledged her agency’s help.
‘‘We will call them,” she said. ‘‘We’ll have Workforce Services work with them, try to get ahead of the curve and help them meet” their goals.
Severino would not provide details on the salaries of the new positions, but said they would be competitive, as many will require clearance.
