During a three-day ISO 9001:2000 recertification audit in September 2008, an auditor from Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc. visited ESS headquarters in Frederick, Maryland.
The auditor, an external and impartial party, performed a complete on-site review of ESS's quality management system and found that it continued to operate in compliance with ISO 9001:2000. Not only did he find no major nonconformances, but no minor nonconformances were observed as well.
This year, ESS added "Design of Electronic Systems" to the scope of its registration. ESS was issued a new registration certificate which is effective until December 8, 2011.
Perry Johnson Registrars is scheduled to return to ESS in December 2009 for its annual surveillance audit. ESS has been registered to ISO 9001:2000 through Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc. since December 2005.
ISO 9001:2000 is the most widely recognized standard for quality management systems.
